Socially Speaking: An Eagle Watch, an Art Stroll

Posted by Shorebread | Friday, March 09, 2012

What's happening this weekend? Socially Speaking and Shorebread have a few ideas...

Head to Berlin to take part in the town’s 2nd Friday Art stroll on March 9th. Many businesses are gearing up for spring and offering seasonal sales, dishes, and drinks starting on Friday. The Berlin Coffee house will be showcasing the photography of, Shorebread’s very own, Natalee DeHart. DeHart began taking photos as a hobby. Her collection has grown immensely. She has selected an array of images to share with the public during the art stroll. Her work will be on display until the April art stroll. Troy Mawyer will perform live. The coffee shop will be open until 8 pm that evening.

Blackwater Refuge is home to one of the largest breeding populations of bald eagles in the entire United States. Spend a day at Blackwater and learn about bald eagles, spot a few, and participate in activities this Saturday, March 10th. From 9 am – 4 pm, the public is invited to join in on Blackwater National Refuge’s Eagle Festival. Entrance and all events are free. Most programs run 30 – 45 minutes in length. Attendees can spend the afternoon on a guided bird walk. Events like guided hikes, puppet shows, and archery practice will be set up. For a list of event activities and driving directions, visit the Refuge website.

From 5 – 7 pm on Saturday, March 10th Furnace Town will be open for guided strolls. The tours are part of an event called Wine through Time. A presentation of Old World and New World wines with small-bites-plates will be shared with those who attend. Guests must be over 21 and have a form of identification on them. Wine through Time costs $50 per person. To reserve your spot, call the Furnace Town Living Heritage Museum at 410-632-2032.

Need some decorating, remodeling, renovating, or building inspiration? The Home, Condo & Garden Show in Ocean City is the perfect place to see new products, compare items, and purchase things on sale. Arts and craft vendors will be on location showcasing hand-made creations and other items. The Home, Condo & Garden Show takes place this weekend, Friday, March 9th – 11th, at the Ocean City Convention Center. For more information, visit the Ocean Promotions website.
